The Heart of Kent Holiday Guide 2011 gives details on all the places to visit in the area, including suggested itineraries for those with special interests.

Castles and Historic Houses
Some of England’s finest medieval castles and historic stately homes are found in the Heart of Kent. Tour the major attractions such as Hever Castle, the childhood home of Anne Boleyn, the unfortunate wife of Henry VIII. Romantic Leeds Castle rises from two small islands in a lake, and Penshurst Place, a classic Elizabethan manor, has been the home of the aristocratic Sidney family since 1552. Chartwell displays memorabilia of its former occupant, the statesman Sir Winston Churchill. Godinton is a splendid Jacobean country mansion with an exceptional collection of porcelain. Chiddingstone Castle re-opened in 2008 and is home too to beautiful collections of art and antiquities.

Gardens
A marvellous array of gardens are open to visitors in 2011. Visit the magnificent gardens at Sissinghurst Castle created by Vita Sackville-West and Sir Harold Nicolson. Gardens on the grand scale can be viewed at Hever Castle, Penshurst Place, Groombridge Place, or Scotney Castle. Intimate cottage gardens are found at Stoneacre, Marle Place and Smallhythe Place.
